An excellent old German Guarnerius violin - Reinhold Geipel Sons around 1920s.

This authentical German violin is a remarkable copy of the great Italian master Joseph Guarnerius, a highly recommendable antique instrument that was built around 1920s. The instrument offered here is definitely superior to most of its siblings, due to its exceptional quality craftsmanship and its rare, great sound. The fine purfling extends well into the corners and is the clear work of a talented and experienced violin maker, who chose exquisite tonewoods and decorated them with a traditional, tastefully applied red-brown colored varnish over a golden ground. The highly recommendable sound of this violin is bright and strong, with an immediate response, dominating, large and precise, very suitable for ambitious musicians.

This beautiful violin has been completely repaired in our workshop - see video of the restoration - and shows now no open cracks or open seams. It received a soundpost-patch and a new set-up with new ebony pegs, tailpiece and chinrest, a new bridge and new strings. These are new silver wound steel core strings. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins, to allow a comparison of the tonality of each instrument in the videos. We would recommend higher quality strings to increase the full character of this masterpiece! The table is finely grained spruce and the 1-piece back, as well as ribs and neck, is nicely flamed maple. Fingerboard is also ebony. Nicely carved scroll and accurately inlaid purfling. Like always the instrument has been checked by our violin player on playability.

This violin is a remarkable copy of the great Italian master Petrus Guarnerius, a highly recommendable antique instrument that was built around 1920s in the workshop of Hermann Dölling jr. (1862 - 1923) in Markneukirchen / Germany, who was employing the best luthiers from this area of violin making and thus internationally famous for his high-quality violins. The fine purfling extends well into the corners and is the clear work of a talented and experienced violin maker, who chose exquisite tonewoods and decorated them with a traditional, tastefully applied amber varnish over a golden ground. The highly recommendable sound of this violin is bright and strong, with an immediate response, dominating, large and precise, very suitable for ambitious musicians. Nicely carved scroll and accurately inlaid purfling. This beautiful violin shows no open cracks or open seams. The table is medium to fine grained spruce and the 2-piece back, as well as ribs and neck, is nicely flamed maple. Like always the instrument has been completely checked by our luthier and by our violin player on playability. In our workshop it received  a complete new set up with new ebony pegs, a new bridge, new soundpost and new strings. New silver wound steel core strings with good projection providing quick finger performance.
