In our workshop we execute fine restoration work on old violins. Based in Lagos / Portugal, we decided to limit our work "only" to violins or violas. You might imagine that working space shrinks a lot, as soon as you deal with some Celli or Double basses ... But there're surely exceptions to the rule !

In any case our goal is to maintain the original consistence of any instrument as much as possible, and to do the repair with commitment, desire, determination and tenacity to be successful - combined with our knowledge and experience gained over years of practical learning,

To analize the actual repair needed on a violin or viola, we have to touch and see the instrument with our own hands and eyes, before we are able to give any avaluation or estimation about the repair work needed.

That's why we seriously would recommend to search for a good luthier in your area.

Just try to compare the value of estimated repair job, service and circumstances or answers given to you. Try to see, if it is a honest advice - or - if it's leading you to be the next desperately expected client to pay their rent...

Now seriously:

Just considere the work situation of a luthier as if you would go to any good restaurant to eat:

Would you expect a good, fresh and healthy meal if you are the only client for days or weeks ?

That is why you should choose a specialist, which obviously has a good backround and feedback.
